She is a singer born in Newark, New Jersey, who began
singing in her local church when she was young. She
joined the group B.T.
Express as their lead vocalist
in the 1990s appearing on their live 1998 CD and continued to sing with
them into the 2000s. She is
also the lead singer of The Dimensions Band, which has toured nationally
and internationally and been described as "one of the hardest working bands
in the country". In 2007 she
released her debut self-titled solo album, which has gained much critical
acclaim and has earned herself the nickname "First Lady of Retro Soul".
