In 1971, he appeared on Mythical Kings and Iguanas by Dory Previn. He collaborated with the Coltranes in 1972, Alice on Lord of Lords and John on Infinity. In 1973, he reunited with Alice on Reflection on Creation and Space (A Five-Year View).

He opened 1974 by laying down some overdubs for the Elvis Presley songs, “If You Talk in Your Sleep”, “It’s Midnight”, “Loving Arms”, “My Boy” and “Spanish Eyes”. Before the year was out, he served as concertmaster and violinist on Illuminations by Alice Coltrane and Carlos Santana.

In 1975, he was in the string section for David Bromberg’s Midnight on the Water, Harry Chapin’s Portrait Gallery, and Jack Jones’ What I Did for Love. He rejoined Alice Coltrane for Eternity, and performed on Ronnie Laws’ Fever, Harry Nilsson’s That’s the Way it Is, The Tubes’ Young and Rich and Tom Waits’ Small Change in 1976.

In 1977, he accompanied Paul Anka on The Music Man, Alice Coltrane on Transcendence, and Neil Diamond on I’m Glad You’re Here With Me Tonight. He fiddled on Alice Coltrane’s Transfiguration, The Emotions’ Sunbeam, Johnny Mathis’s and Deniece Williams’ That’s What Friends Are For, Sergio Mendes’s Brasil 88 and Frank Zappa’s Studio Tan in 1978.

In 1979, he offered string support on Leah Kunkel’s self-titled album. The Satori Quartet performed Bela Bartok’s “Quartet No. 5, Sz102”, Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Quartet No. 10 in E flat major, Op. 74” (“Harp”) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Quartet No. 19 in C major, K. 465” (“Dissonance”) under the umbrella of the South Bay Chamber Music Society on 14^th December 1979.

Murray opened the ‘80s by appearing on the soundtracks of Airplane! and Stripes. In 1983, he played violin on George Duke’s Guardian of the Light. He collaborated with George Duke and Stanley Clarke’s 3 in 1990.

In 1991, he was in the lush string section of Natalie Cole’s Unforgettable: With Love. He did the same on 1993’s Duets by Frank Sinatra. In 1995, he was credited with violin on Jennifer Holliday’s On & On and Miwa Yoshida’s Beauty and Harmony. He worked again with Frank Zappa on 1996’s Lather.

In 1997, he found himself in the Middle of Nowhere with Hanson and in Anytime with Brian McKnight. He joined Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello for Painted from Memory and Dwight Yoakam for Long Way Home in 1998.

In 1999, he appeared on The Art of the Song with Charlie Haden, Bajo el Azul de Tu Misterio by Jaguares, Livin’ La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin, and Moon: Wings by Miyuki Nakajima.

He worked with Ricky again on Sound Loaded and Carl Saunders on Eclecticism in 2000. In 2001, he appeared on Russell Malone’s Heartstrings. He was busy in 2002, on American Dreams by Charlie Haden, the soundtrack of Far from Heaven, Hello Lisa by Lisa Loeb, This is the Moment by Sammy Nestico, and Return of the Marquis de Sade by Lalo Schifrin.

In 2003, he appeared on Lee Ritenour’s Wes Bound. He served as concertmaster on The Simpsons: Testify in 2007. On 22^nd October 2007, he was one of several musicians to celebrate the 100^th episode of The Family Guy.
