    Agee, Tawatha

    She is a singer-songwriter born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She moved to New York and worked as a backing singer from the mid-1970s.  She has worked heavily with James Mtume and was the lead vocalist for his band Mtume .  Whilst he was writing the song "Juicy Fruit " she would be recording one verse while he wrote the next.  James Mtume also produced her only solo album Welcome to My Dream.  In the late 1990s she became part of The Lovely Ladies who backed Dave Matthews Band.  She has also worked with artists including Al Jarreau, Aretha Franklin, The O'Jays and Sting.  She co-wrote the song "Two Hearts" for Stephanie Mills and Teddy Pendergrass.
