He is a drummer born Jeffrey Allen in Glasgow,
Scotland, and is the brother of the bass guitarist Chris Cross. In the
late 1960s/early 1970s he appeared in the band East of Eden, where a
co-member was Geoff
Britton who would join Wings
, and in 1971 he was part of the original line-up of the successful
chart band Hello, originally called The Age, who also toured with Gary
Glitter. In 1976 he spent a brief time on a session recording with the
Scottish band Blue as a
percussionist and drummer as replacement for Timi
Donald
.
