Bassist from
Frederick, Maryland, who started his first band when he was all of
twelve. He had planned to play
drums but one of his buddies had his own drum kit, so Scott gravitated to
the bass. He attended West
Frederick Middle School and Frederick High School and played in the school’s
jazz band when he wasn’t playing football or running track. As he got older, his cousin
encouraged him to listen to Stanley Clarke and it has informed his work
ever since. His next band would
play a mixture of funk, fusion, jazz, and rhythm and blues. Upon graduation, he went on to study
psychology at College Park’s University of Maryland, but the muse
called and he soon quit school to perform on the Washington, D.C. club
circuit. Then Scott heard of an
opening in the long-time jazz-fusion outfit, Spyro
Gyra.
He aced the audition and began recording with them in 1992. The name of the album was Three Wishes, and he has appeared on
every Spyro Gyra album to
this day. Scott designed his
own bass guitar, the five-string Ambush Custom (and you can own one too) and
has his own studio with all the bells and whistles, including drum
machines, keyboards, and all the necessary software. Can a solo CD be far off?
