He is an English tuba player born in England, who was
a member of the London Tuba Ensemble in the early 1970s. In May 1980 he performed the premiere of "Serenade for Solo
Tuba" by David Golightly, which was dedicated to him and he also
appeared as a tuba player for the Philip
Jones Brass Ensemble , the Locke
Brass Consort and the London
Symphony Orchestra
and as Principal
Tuba for the BBC Symphony Orchestra, appearing with these on several
recordings. In 2005 he was a
member of the Royal Opera House Brass Soloists and performed on the 2005
live recording of On the Town.
Appearing on several soundtrack recordings he can be heard on Order,
The Empire Strikes Back and Peacemaker. In the field of musical education
he was Professor of Tuba at the Guildhall School of Music in London and
taught several of today's acclaimed musicians.
