He is a violist and
violinist born in Bombay, India,
and living in England
from the time he was 9 years old. He was featured in the BBC documentary Life of a Child when he was studying
at the Yehudi Menuhin
School and he later won a
scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. He
joined the Arditti
Quartet while
still at the Royal Academy
and with them he performed at many international music festivals. He has given many performances as a
soloist, and he gave the world premiere of "Capriccio for solo
viola" by Krystof Penderecki
on Polish television. He has
appeared on many recordings with artists including the Arditti
Quartet
, the
London Sinfonietta and the Fong Naam Ensemble
from Thailand. His film performances have been as a
first violinist in Golemata Voda, a music contractor in The Mystery of Edwin Drood
and a violist in Chatarra.
