    Bailey, R. Wayne

He is a bass singer, conductor, music director adjudicator and teacher who received degrees in music from the Jacksonville University and Fort Worth's Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He became a singer for Robert Shaw during his time as the leader of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and this association lasted for more than 20 years with him singing and recording as a member of the Atlanta Symphony Chamber Singers, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus and the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers .  He was also with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers during all of their tours of France, at various of their choral workshops and was a chosen soloist on their recording Amazing Grace.

Other occasions he has been a guest soloist are at many conventions held in the United States, the Jacksonville Delius Festivals and with the London Symphony Orchestra and Jacksonville Symphony & Symphony Chorus.

Often turning his hand to conducting and music directing he has led several of Florida's all-county choruses, the Jacksonville Children's Chorus among other choral groups and conducted at the Daytona Beach International Festival.

He is also a teacher who has taught all levels of school education plus church music classes, community colleges and universities.  He is currently on the faculty of Jacksonville's Florida Community College as Professor of Vocal Music and Director of Choral Studies and outside of school is the Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church's Interim Music Director.

Winning several awards for his contribution to music he has received prizes for conducting the All-State women's and men's choruses, been named Outstanding Faculty Member of the Florida Community College and the Arts Assembly of Jacksonville honoured him with the title of Educator of the Year.

As if he wasn't busy enough with all of this, he has been studying at the University of Miami for his doctorate in choral conducting.
