He is a bass guitarist and singer-songwriter born in London,
England and nicknamed
"Bedders".While attending
school in KentishTown
he met the members of the North London Invaders through his friend Gary
Dovey, who was their drummer, and he was asked to a rehearsal.After
Gary Dovey left the band he was the one that introduced Daniel
Woodgate
, "Wooders" to replace him.The
group became Morris and the Minors and then evolved into Madness
which was one of the most popular
British bands of the 1980s.He was
involved in the writing of several of the band's songs including the
No. 17 hit "One
Better Day
".They disbanded in 1986 and he went on to join Voice of the Beehive,
followed by forming the band BUtterfield 8 with members of the jazz scene
of that period.The band
re-united in 1992 with the original line-up but between 1993 and 1995 he took
a break from them.He returned
to the band and is currently recording and touring with them as well as
working as a graphic designer with his own business in CamdenTown, London.
