Bello, Meyer

Violist who appeared with Vikki Carr Live at the Greek Theatre in 1973 and around the same time was in the studio recording Illuminations with Alice Coltrane and Carlos Santana. In 1976, he eschewed the viola for the violin on Harry Nilsson's ... That's the Way It Is and was part of the string section on Earl Klugh's self-titled debut and Paul Butterfield's Put it in Your Ear. A couple of years later, he helped Quincy Jones create Sounds... and Stuff like That!. In 1979, he appeared on Frank Sinatra's boxed set, Trilogy, and Lamont Dozier's Bittersweet. He is credited with violin on Earth, Wind & Fire's Powerlight and viola on Julio Iglesias's 1100 Bel Air Place, released in 1983 and 1984, respectively. In 1996, he appeared on Neil Diamond's In My Lifetime. The new millennium saw him reuniting with Carlos Santana on the Bill Laswell project, Divine Light: Reconstructions & Mix Translation. Another latter-day CD release you can hear him on is 2006's Send in the Clowns: The Very Best of Sarah Vaughan.
