She is a violinist who began to attend the
Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec when she was three years old. She went on to study further at the
Meadowmount School of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music.
After graduating she became a violinist with the
Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and performed at the
Marlboro Music Festival.
She went on to perform as a member of the Cleveland
Orchestra and in 1988, when she was 25, she secured a place in the Detroit
Symphony where she became their concertmaster and the first woman in the
United States to hold that position.
She performed her first solo with the orchestra when she was 25 and
has regularly been giving these performances ever since.
In 2007 she was chosen to be one of four
concertmasters for the Seattle Symphony as well as retaining that post with
the DSO.
An active chamber musician she plays with the St.
Clair Trio and she is also no stranger to the recording studio. Albums she has appeared on include Encore
Live!, Barber: Symphony No. 1 and Tchaikovsky: Suite No. 3 with
the DSO, Sir Malcolm Arnold: Hobson’s Choice by the St. Clair Trio, Christmas
Here With You by The Four Tops and the soundtrack of Bamboozled.
In musical education she is a member of the Adjunct
Faculty of Wayne State University’s Music Department.
