She is a violinist, born Dale Allmond in California, who
started learning the piano when she was six years old and concentrated on
the violin from the time she was eight.She and her brother performed chamber music together and
she was a performer in youth orchestras and the orchestra from her school.In 1977 she studied on a
scholarship at the University of Southern California and during this time
she was taken on as a substitute violinist for the Los Angeles
Philharmonic.With them she played
at the Hollywood Bowl and toured nationally and internationally.In 1983 she became a full time
musician at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and still performs there as
Second Violin alongside her husband David Breidenthal who is the
Principal Bassoonist. As well as performing with the orchestra she
has performed in ensembles that comprise various of their members
such as the Rochelle
Abramson Ensemble
and the Ginastera Quartet.In the world of musical education she has been a violin
coach for the Huntingdon Middle School Orchestra.Her brother is the composer and sound designer Edmond
Allmond.
