Multi-talented
and extremely versatile musician whose extensive discography stretches back
to 1970, when he recorded Merging of
Our Minds with Bobby Bridger.
In 1971, he arranged Nelson Truehart's
"Morning in My Lai", backed with "Letter Sealed with
Tears". He multi-tasked
on Mosaics' Pieces of Stone
in 1977, doing some of the arrangements and playing keyboards. In 1978, he arranged, conducted and
played the keys on We Americans: A Musical Journey with Burl Ives. He was one the very special guests
on My Very Special Guests, a
collection of George Jones duets, in 1979. The same year he conducted and
shared keyboard duties with fellow pianist Beege
Adair on Moonlight Ragtime. In 1980, he did a turn with Walt
Disney on Mickey Mouse Disco, arranging
"Macho Duck", among others. He then
went back to the piano bench for Ricky
Skaggs'
highly acclaimed Waitin' for the Sun to Shine, which was released in 1981. In 1982,
he reunited with Skaggs on Highways & Heartaches, which
yielded the #1 hits "Heartbroke"
and "Highway 40 Blues".
He spent much of 1984 writing string arrangements for the Deborah
Allen offering, Let Me Be the First. In 1985, he arranged the strings and
played piano on "Everybody's Crazy 'bout My Baby"
by Marie Osmond. He was
credited as a songwriter on the film, Man
Outside, in 1986. In 1987, he
collaborated with Ricky Van Shelton on Wild-Eyed
Dream. He appeared on The
Crickets' T-Shirt in 1988. In 1989, he celebrated An Old Time Christmas with Randy
Travis. He Soul'd Out with John Cowan in 1990. In 1991, he was an erstwhile member
of The New Nashville Cats with Mark
O'Connor
. He sent A Christmas Card with The Forester
Sisters in 1992. In 1993, he
hooked up with Michael Martin Murphey on Cowboy Songs III: Rhymes of the Renegades. Several of his compositions were
performed by The London Philharmonic Orchestra on Currier & Ives: Winterscapes, in 1994. In the same year, he was the
arranger on The London Symphony
Orchestra Plays the Music of Queen. He played piano on Michael Martin Murphey's Sagebrush
Symphony in 1995. In 1996, he appeared on Neil
Diamond's
In
My Lifetime. He performed Songs of the Silver Screen with Sons
of the San Joaquin in 1997. In
1998, he played keyboards on A Glen
Campbell Christmas, which later won a Dove award from the Gospel Music
Association for Best Country Album.
He arranged and conducted The Dixie Chicks' Fly in 1999. In 2000, he orchestrated The Brooklyn
Tabernacle Choir's album, God
is Working. He also
arranged and conducted Garth Brooks
& The Magic of Christmas in 2001. On 21st November 2002,
Dennis accompanied jazz singer Sony Holland at the 2nd Annual
Nashville Grammy Showcase. The
two of them would continue to collaborate throughout the new millennium,
including on Sony's 2003 release, On
a San Francisco High. In
2004, he recorded Dream #29 with Cindy
Bullens.
He then joined Santa & The Toymakers for the stocking stuffer, You've Got to Believe: Santa Sings Christmas Classics. In 2007, he made the cut on several
best-of packages, including The
Ultimate Hits of Garth Brooks, Holly Dunn's Greatest Hits, and The
Classic Songs of Ray Price.

Sony Holland extended their run at F. Scott's in Nashville,
