He is a saxophonist, composer, arranger, teacher and
clinician born in Caracas, Venezuela, to Spanish parents and began his
interest in music from a very young age.His family re-settled in the United States in 1966 and
he took music lessons, deciding to learn the tenor saxophone, at the
suggestion of his father.He
took his musical studies in jazz performance at the University of Miami and
before his graduation he was already working with several acts such as
Miami Sound Machine and Bob James. Not sticking to just music, however, he
also managed to get himself a degree in maths at the Florida International
University.His musical career
has seen him working as an acclaimed soloist, guest artist and sideman on
an international level, playing music that spans the realms of bebop, jazz,
Latin and pop, and he has been regularly sought after by many artists to
perform with them in concert and in the recording studio.A small portion of these artists includes Christina Aguilera,
Michael Bolton, Vicky Carr, George Clinton, Vic Damone, Dion, Placido
Domingo, Robin

, Julio Iglesias, Wyclef Jean, Stacy

not thousands, of recordings he has released his own Latin Grammy Award
nominations Ed Calle Plays Santana and In the Zone as well as

found working at his One-Take Recording Studios, performing as a member of
the Miami Saxophone Quartet or leading the Fuego Caliente Latin Jazz
Orchestra as well as working in the field of musical education.As a teacher he is the Associate
Professor of Music Business and Production at Miami Dade College and as a
student he is working on his Doctorate in Higher Education Leadershop at
Nova Southeasern University.He also works at many of Florida's universities and colleges as a
jazz clinician.
