     Alan Carr

    He is a bass trombonist and teacher who studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, and the Peabody Conservatory of Music and has gone on to take further studies at Yale University.  Winning many awards he has been in receipt of ther Alice and Leary Taylor Prize, the Richard Franko Goldman Prize and the Ruth Blaustein Orchestral Scholarship.  In his performance career he has played with the American Brass Quintet, The Julliard Orchestra, Trombone Choir and the King's Brass, who he has been a member of since 2001, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, members of the New York Philharmonic, Utah Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra and he is a co-founder of ArsVentus Chamber Ensemble.  In his recording career he has appeared on Classic Hymns and Brass and Organ with the King's Brass, In Gabriel's Day with the American Brass Quintet , a recording with the Juilliard Trombone Choir led by Virginia Allen and his latest release is an album recorded with the trombonist Joseph Alessi.  He currently performs as a freelance musician based in Baltimore, Maryland.  In the world of musical education he is a faculty member of the Maryland Conservatory of Music and gives private tuition to brass students and chamber music ensembles.
