    Carrington, Simon (1940s-Present)

    He is a baritone who was born in England and attended Oxford and Cambridge where he studied music and choral works and was a member of the chapel choirs.  He worked for the BBC Philharmonic as Sub Principal Double Bass and then the Monteverdi Orchestra as Principal Double Bass. A founding member and original music director of the King's Singers , he was with them from 1965 to 1993 and gave 3000 performances.  After leaving the vocal ensemble he became Director of Choral Activities and Professor and Artist in Residence at the University of Kansas before moving on to become Director of Choral Activities at the New England Conservatory in Boston.   From September 2003 he has been the Professor of Choral Conducting and Conductor of the Yale Schola Cantorum at Yale University.  He has received several musical awards as well as a Grammy nomination for the King's Singers' The Madrigal History Tour.
