Fires, The Vu, and a couple of brief stints with Alan Parsons and
Journey.The consummate
collaborator, Kevin never released a solo album until the new millennium, Running With The Wind, followed by Fly2Freedom, a tribute to his favourite band, the aforementioned Journey.He subbed for Steve Perry at a
Journey concert in the mid-'90s and was asked to join the band, but
Perry came back and that left a lot of Chalfant
compositions on the shelf.He
has remained friends with the band ever since.His career unofficially started with
707 in 1982.It was a short
flight.In 1990, he co-founded
The Storm with Josh Ramos and former Journeymen Gregg Rolie, Steve Smith, and
Ross Valory.Chalfant
and Valory had previously recorded together as
The Vu.The Storm enjoyed some
success in the early '90s, but by 1996, The Storm had passed.They got back together for a tour in
2002 and the following year Kevin toured with Alan Parsons and re-united
with Ramos for a performance with The Gregg Rolie
Band at Waterfest in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.A few years later, he was recruited by the power-pop group Shooting
Star
and can be heard on the 2007 release, Circles.On 28 January 2007, Kevin Chalfant received the Award of Honor at the 26th
Annual Chicago Music Awards.
