He is a percussionist born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He began playing the drums at a
young age and after having been noticed by musicians from his local area,
he began his career when he was 14.
He travelled and worked in various states in America and also in
Europe. He was a founding
member of the Muscle Shoals studio musicians who became very successful and
worked in many studios and took part in concerts. During the course of his career
he has worked with artists including Hank Williams jr, Steely Dan,
Bobby
Bare, Odia
Coates, Roy Clark, Randy Crawford, Narvel Felts, Lobo, Roy
Orbison, J. Geils
Band, Uriah Heep, Tammy Wynette, Tom T.
Hall, Amazing
Rhythm Aces, Edward
Bear, Doobie Brothers, Steve
Miller Band, Wilson Pickett, Chuck
Berry
and many,
many more. He has been a
performer on gold and platinum albums and singles that total over 30 and
has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Muscle Shoals Music
Association as well as being an Alabama Music Hall of Fame member.
