Violinist who attended the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music and won a spot with the London Symphony Orchestra strings while completing her post-graduate work.

On 18^th May 2001, she led the Misbourne Orchestra so that their regular leader, Craig Stratton, could solo on Felix Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto”. The program was rounded out by Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings”, Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 1 in C major”, and the overture from Gioachino Rossini’s opera, The Barber of Seville.

On 11^th April 2002, Fiona, along with cellist Andrew Joyce, pianist Mitra Alice Tham, fellow violinist Haru Sekiya and violist Felix Tanner performed at Djangly Recital Hall in Nottingham, England.

In February 2007, shortly after going on a safari in Kenya, Africa, and performing as part of a quartet on an Indian Ocean cruise, she became a member of the Philharmonia.

Fiona and cellist Benjamin Hughes, violinist Adrian Varela and violist Samuel Burstin traveled to Uruguay in January 2008 for recitals of Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Joseph Haydn, Scott Joplin and Astor Piazzolla. The mini-tour included stops at Club del Lago Golf and Resort, Hotel L’Auberge, and Hotel Mantra Resort Spa and Casino.

On 13^th March 2009, the Philharmonia performed Gustav Mahler’s “Sinfonie Nr. 9 D-Dur” and Arnold Schoenberg’s “Konzert fur Klavier und Orchester, Op. 42”, with Mitsuko Uchida at the keys.

They teamed up with Simon Tpceski on 30^th November 2009 for Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Concerto pour piano et orchestre No. 1”, which was sandwiched between Zoltan Kodaly’s “Danses de Galanta” and Modest Mussorgsky’s Tableaux d’une exposition.

On 25^th March 2010, they joined forces with Joshua Bell in a Beethoven double-header that included the master’s “Konzert fur Violine und Orchester D-Dur, Op. 61” and “Symphonie No. 3 Es-Dur, Op. 55” (“Eroica”).

They appeared at Conservatorio di Milano on 12^th November 2010 in a concert of Bela Bartok’s “Il mandarino meraviglioso, suite da concerto, Op. 19”, Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Op. 14, and Modest Mussorgsky’s “Una notte sul Monte Calvo”.

On 13^th November 2010, they were at the Torino Auditorium for Jean Sibelius’s “Lemminkainen Suite, Quattro leggende, Op. 22” from Kalevala and Igor Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps.

They played Bartok’s “Musica para cordas, percussao e celestra, Sz 106”, Maurice Ravel’s “Bolero” and “Ma mere l’Oye (suite)”, and Maestro Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “Concerto para Violino e Orquestra”, with soloist Leila Josefowicz, on 11^th January 2011.

On 4^th February 2011, they participated in XVII Temporada de Grandes Conciertos de Primavera at Auditorio de Zaragoza in a concert of Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Concierto para violin, No. 1 en La m, Op. 77”, with violinist Sergey Khachatryan, and Tchaikovsky’s “Sinfonia en Si m, Op. 58” (“Manfred”).

The Philharmonia and The Philharmonia Voices performed in “2001: A Space Odyssey Live” at Royal Festival Hall in April 2011.

Fiona has also hosted the Philharmonia’s podcasts and appeared with them on the popular television series, BBC Proms.
