     Cousin, Jack

He is a double bass player and teacher, born in Boston, Massachusetts, who started to play the instrument when he was 12 years old.  He studied with the Principal Bass player of the Springfield Symphony, Anthony Bevivino, and performed and toured as a member of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras.  He went on to enter the New England Conservatory of Music.  Further studies were taken at the Tanglewood and Temple Music Festivals.  In 1974 he became a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the leadership of Zubin Mehta and has since been heard as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician with them.  In 1992 he appeared as a member of the Rochelle Abramson Enemble at the South Bay Chamber Music Society.  He has appeared in numerous national and international concerts and regularly in the recording studio.  In the field of musical education he teaches at various locations in Southern California and privately and is a coach with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Partners Program.
