She is an
oboist and teacher who has performed with the English
Northern Philharmonia and since moving to London with her husband, the trombonist Chris Fower, she has performed with the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra and held the position of Princiipal Cor Anglais’ Chair with
the Philharmonia Orchestra.
She has also
been a regular recording musician with the ensemble known as In The
Nursery.
Extremely
active in the recording studio she has appeared on her own 2001 English Oboe Concertos along with
albums that include the soundtrack of An
Ambush of Ghosts, Anatomy of a
Poet, Composite: The Brasilian Issue Soundtrack, Deco, Groundloop
and Lingua by In the Nursery, A Tu Vera by
Isabel Pantoja, Charles Fernandez: Music from the Ballet The Statue by the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the compilations The Canticle of Man: The Music of Alan Rawsthorne,
Halcyon Days: A Treasury of British
Light Music and My England: A
Collection of Timeless English Concertos where she appears with the
English Northern Philharmonia.
She has
appeared with the Philharmonia in their films Philarmonia Podcast 3:
A Tribute to Dennis Brain (with
Gustav Holst’s The Planets) and the
2010 Tristan und Isolde.
In the field
of musical education she teaches at the Royal Academy of Music where she is
an ARAM.
