     Davis, Tim

He is a drummer who lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin in the 1960s.  While living there he met the singer-songwriter Steve Miller who invited him to join him in a blues band with James "Curly" Cooke in San Francisco.  They became the Steve Miller Blues Band that evolved into the ultimately successful Steve Miller Band .  With them he appeared with Chuck Berry and took part in the Monterey Pop festival and appeared on their first five albums.  His other appearances during his career have been with artists including Jefferson Airplane, Frank Portolese and Ben Sidran among others.  In 1972 he released his own album Pipe Dream, which featured James "Curly" Cooke and Donna Jean Godchaux of the Grateful Dread.
