She is a
violinist born Tatiana Anastasia Dimitriades in New York to a musical family where her father is
a concert violinist and her mother, Ruth Lansche,
is a voice teacher who was a soprano with the Metroplitan
Opera Chorus.
She studied at
Juilliard’s Pre-College Division before
travelling to Indiana University’s School of Music where she was awarded a certificate for
Outstanding Music Performance and received her diploma, bachelor’s degree
and master’s degree.
She has also
been awarded the National Young Musicians Foundation Debut Competition’s
Mischa Pelz Prize.
In 1987 she
became a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, with who she has appeared
in countless performances. She
has also been a concertmaster of the Newton Symphony Orchestra and
performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
In 1993 she
married the pianist Jonathan David Bass who had also attended Juilliard and
Indiana University and is the Chairman of the Music
Department at the Boston Conservatory.
Their children are Francesca, who plays the violin and Nicolas, who
plays the cello.
As a soloist
she has played at the Grand Teton Music Festival
and given an Associated Music Teachers of New York sponsored performance at
the Carnegie Recital Hall.
As a chamber musician
and recitalist she has performed all over New England, often as a member of the Walden Chamber
Players (which she co-founded), the Boston Conservatory Chamber Ensemble,
the Boston Artists Ensemble, Curtisville
Consortium and the Needham Chamber Players.
Other awards
she has received include the Guideo Chigi Saracini Prize which
was presented to her in Paganini’s centenary
year by Siena’s Accademia
Musicale Chigiana and the .Lili
Boulanger Memorial Award.
She has
appeared on recordings that include America, American
Visions, Celtic Album, Holiday Pops, A Splash of Pops, My Favorite Things: A Richard Rogers Celebration and Chris Botti:
Live in Boston by the Boston Pops Orchestra and Wayne Rapier: Oboe by
Wayne Rapier.
She continues
to perform as first violin with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and currently
holds the position of concertmaster with the New Philharmonia
Orchestra of Massachusetts. She is also a member of the band Classical
Tangent.
In the field
of musical education she has been a member of the faculty of the Boston
Conservatory.
