Actor
and tenor who was a mainstay of The Savoy Company for many years,
specializing in operettas by Gilbert & Sullivan, such as The Gondoliers, The Grand Duke, Iolanthe, Patience,
Princess Ida, The Sorcerer, Utopia Limited, and The
Yeoman of the Guard.
Another
group he has been involved with is Concert Operetta Theater, for which he
has played a variety of roles, including Baron Koloman
Zsupan in Countess
Maritza, Marquis de Cascada in The Merry Widow, Massakroff
in The Chocolate Soldier, Sergei Mentschikoff in The
Count of Luxembourg, and Von Asterberg in The Student Prince.
In
January 2007, he took a straight acting turn as Reverend Hale in The ActorsNet of Bucks County’s presentation of
Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
He
returned to familiar territory in 2008 and 2009, performing highlights from
Gilbert & Sullivan with The Topsy Turvy Troupe and appearing as Captain Corcoran in The
Rose Valley Chorus & Orchestra’s production of H.M.S. Pinafore. He has performed in other RVCO
offerings, as Nanki-Poo in The Mikado and Richard Dauntless in Ruddigore.
Ross is
also a member of The Philadelphia Singers, the chorus-in-residence of The
Philadelphia Orchestra.
