He is a violinist, hammered dulcimer player, arranger,
producer, author and teacher who started learning how to play the violin
when he was eight years old and took his further musical education at
Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.Covering a musical repertoire that
ranges from bluegrass to classical, he is a member of the National Fiddler's
Hall of Fame and has been heard on over 50 recordings, which include Bluegrass
Beatles, Cajun Tradition, Celtic Harp Traditions, Christmas in the Old
West, New England Sunday with Gregg Howard, the Country Mountain
series and the Smoky Mountain series.He is often heard performing with the Southern Strings
and his own Craig Duncan Band which can range from 8 to 20 musicians, his
television appearances have seen him feature in the Porter Wagoner show and
on various TV specials and he has also been heard on stage at the Grand Ole
Opry. As an author he has
written many books on the subject of fiddling and the performance of other
stringed instruments and these include The Craig Duncan Master Fiddle
Solo Collection, The Cajun Fiddle, Famous Fiddlin' Tunes and Deluxe
Fiddling Method.In the
world of musical education he is an Adjunct Professor of Fiddle at
Nashville's Belmont School of Music.
