Edelstein, Walter

Violinist who was with the New York Symphony Orchestra in the 1920s and went on to record with some of the biggest names in jazz and pop. Some of his early recordings were The Dizzy Gillespie Story, Dizzy Gillespie Plays..Johnny Richards Conducts, and Frank Sinatra's The Columbia Years (1943-1952) and The Complete Capitol Singles Collection. In 1956, he was back in the studio with Frank Sinatra recording A Swingin' Affair! and played on the soundtrack of Around the World in Eighty Days. Other artists he recorded with in the '50s included Dean Martin ("The Christmas Blues"/"If I Should Love Again"), Percy Faith (Bouquet) and Ella Fitzgerald (Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook). He also appears on Frank Sinatra's 1979 boxed set, Trilogy. In fact, you do not have far to go to bump into a boxed set with Walter's name in the credits.
