    Feldman, Richard

    He is a multi-musician, songwriter, composer, arranger and a Grammy Award winning producer who has been active in the music industry for more than a quarter of a century and written several chart-topping songs.

     

    His songs that been recorded by many artists including Pat Benatar, Joe Cocker, Etta James, Chaka Khan, The Pointer Sisters, Kenny Rogers and Bobby Womack and his “Promises” recorded by Eric Clapton was his first No. 1 single.  His compositions have also been used for many film and television productions such as Boomerang, Can’t Buy Me Love, Cool Runnings and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and Nuns on the Run among others.  He has written in collaboration with the singer Marcella Detroit and after introducing her to Siobhan Fahey and Dave Stewart he was instrumental in the formation of the successful duo Shakespear’s Sister and co-wrote their hit song “You’re History”.

     

    Getting his name known as a producer he has worked with many acts such as Belinda Carlisle, The Eurythmics, No Doubt and Bonny Raitt among many others.  He was a Grammy Award winner for his production work with Toots & The Maytals on their True Love.

     

    His work has been used by numerous artists over the years with some of them including Animotion, Atlantic Starr, Tom Browne, Peabo Bryson, The Canadian Brass, Jimmy Cliff, DiVinyls, Nicolette Larson, Phyllis Nelson, Robbie Nevil, Juice Newton, Jennifer Rush, Timothy B. Schmit, Three Dog Night, Midge Ure and Don Williams.

     

    His catalogue of recordings is immense and just a very small selection that he has worked on as a musician, songwriter and/or producer include Wow! By Bananarama, Seven the Hard Way by Pat Benatar, Backless by Eric Clapton, Civilised Man by Joe Cocker, United by The Commodores, Through the Eyes of Love by Randy Crawford, High Crime by Al Jarreau, Lead and How to Swing It by Tom Jones, Back to Avalon by Kenny Loggins, Like Never Before by Taj Mahal, That’s What Friends Are For by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams, Countryman by Willie Nelson, Doesn’t Have to Be This Way” by Rose Royce, Watch Out! By Patrice Rushen, Time Takes Time by Ringo Starr and Major Moves by Hank Williams Jr.

     

    On the business side of things he received an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of business, founded Artists First Music and holds the position of president of The Association of Independent Music Publishers, who he has been on the board of since 2006.  He is also active in the battle against music piracy.
