    Flieder, Johannes (1959 – Present)

    Violist from Vienna, Austria, who attended the Musichochschule and the Wiener Conservatorium, and studied with Margarete Biedermann and Siegfried Fuhrlinger.

     

    In 1980, he became first violist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.  Other groups with whom he has worked include the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, Akademischer Orchesterverein in Wien, Beethoven Quartet Wien, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Camerata Pro Musica, Concentus Musicus Wien, EOS-Quartett Wien, the Eroica Trio, the Flieder Trio, the Franz Schubert Quartett, the Lauenen Chamber Concerts Association, Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Trio Partout, the Vienna Chamber Soloists, the Vienna Classical Players Quintet, Vienna Concert Association, the Vienna Piano Trio and the Wratislavia Chamber Orchestra.

     

    He and pianist Christian Krattenthaler, cellist Peter Siakala and violinist Anton Straka interpreted Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Quartet in G minor, K. 478” at Modlinger Buhne in Modling on 18th March 1990.

     

    In June 1992, he participated in the International Viola Congress at the Vienna Hochschule fur Musik and darstellende Kunst, where he performed Horatiu Radulescu’s “Sonata for Solo Viola”.

     

    He and harpist Volker Kempf and flautist Erwin Klammbauer offered up Eric Zeisl’s “Arrowhead Trio” at the Jewish Museum of Vienna on 23rd June 2003.

     

    On 16th August 2007, he and harpist Gabriela Mossyrsch and flautist Birgit Ramsl appeared at Erwin-Schrodinger-Saal where they performed the famed “Sonata” of Claude Debussy.

     

    He and the Vienna Piano Trio interpreted Johannes Brahms’ “Piano Quartet, Op. 60” as part of the BBC Proms on 30th July 2008.

     

    On 3rd December 2011, the Vienna Classical Players Quintet took the stage the the Osterreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften Ballroom.  Their program comprised Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Divertimento in G major, Op. 100”, Mozart’s “Quartet in C major, K. 631” and “Quintet in C major, K. 521”, and Jeno Takacs’ “Dialogues on Birdsongs”.

     

    He and cellist Katharina Gross, pianist Sibila Konstantinova and violinist Benjamin Marquise-Gilmore performed in a Hauskonzert in Vienna that included Antonin Dvorak’s “Piano Quartet” and Mozart’s “Divertimento” on 3rd June 2012.

     

    On 26th February 2013, the Vienna Chamber Soloists appeared at Emile Bustani Auditorium.  Their recital included Johannes Brahms’ “Quintet in B minor, Op. 115”, Rupert Gottfried Frieberger’sLebensherbst Elegy”, and Mozart’s “Quintet in A major, K. 581” and arrangements of fugues from Johann Sebastian Bach’s “The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II”.
