He is a
trombonist and teacher born in Scharding, Austria, who starting learning to play when he
was 9 years old.
In 1985, when he
was fourteen, he entered the Bruckner Conservatory
in Linz and the Linz Highschool
of Music Five years later
in 1990 he became a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
years into his studies in Vienna
he became a member of the Bruckner Symphony Orchestra
Linz and in 1996 he was given the position of Solo
Trombonist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
is a founding member of the Vienna Trombone Quartet and Ensemble Tonus and
has worked with various other ensembles that include Austrian Brass Connection,
Pro Brass, Vienna Symphony Jazz Project and Wiener Akademie. He has also performed as a member of
Concentus Musicus Wien.
has made several recordings which include Ewan Ewazen: Bass Hits by the Czech Philharmonic
Chamber Orchestra and the International Sejong Soloists,
Fiori Musicale by the Baroque Ensemble of
the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Brahms,
Schumann, Schubert, Russian Melodies and Vienna Masters Play Chamber Music by the Vienna Trombone
Quartet and Michael Haydn: Concerto
in D Major for 2 Trombones and Orchestra by Wiener Concert-Verein.
the field of musical education he has given numerous national and international
masterclasses and in 2007 took on the position of
Professor of Trombone at Vienna’s
University of Music
and Performing Arts.
