He is an orchestral conductor born in England.His initial musical studies were at
Durham University before moving on to the Royal Academy of Music in London
where he studied conducting, taking classes with acclaimed conductors such
as Maryn Brabbins, George Hurst and Sir Colin Davis.During his stay there he won the
Harding Bursary, a Henry Wood Scholarship and the Royal Academy of Music's
performers diploma that would make him the first conducting student to
receive one.It wasn't long
before he was beginning to be headhunted and soon he would be the Assistant
Conductor with the British Youth Orchestra and the Havant symphony
Orchestra.Since those years he has appeared
as a conductor with the orchestras that include BBC
Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal
Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony, Munich
Philharmonic the Manchester Camerata, Assistant Conductor for the BBC
Philharmonic
which was given to him as part of him winning the
Lloyd's Bank BBC Young Musicians '98 Conductor's Workshop, and his current
position of Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Iceland Symphony
Orchestra. Releasing many recordings, he often concentrates on classic film
scores alongside the masterpieces of many of history's acclaimed recordings.In 2002 he was honoured with being
made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
