    Gillinger, Robert (1973-Present)

    He is a bassoonist and lecturer who took his musical studies in Vienna and further studies with the Amsterdam Loecki Stardust Quartet.

     

    In 1994 he became a member of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and stayed with them for 6 years until joining the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in 2001.

     

    He also performs as first bassoonist with the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic, the Vienna Classical Players and the Vienna Concert-Verein.

     

    Aside from his orchestral work he is also a chamber musician who has performed the premieres of several concertos and solo works.  Some of the chamber ensembles he has worked with include Blaserquintett der Wiener Symphoniker, Elliott Carter Quintet, Ensemble EIS, Ensemble 1080, Ensemble Reconsil, Triple Tongue Vienna and Wiener Virtuosen.

     

    He has also performed by invitation as a guest musician with various orchestras and ensembles that have included many chamber, opera and symphony orchestras based in Vienna along with Ensemble Modern Frankurt and Klangforum Wien.

     

    No stranger to the recording studio he has appeared on a 2006 CD of works by Telemann and Vivaldi, the 2008 Passages and the 2009 CD for new wind instrument compositions for trios by Triple Tongue Vienna.

     

    In the field of musical education he has been a lecturer at the University of Performing Arts and Music in Vienna and since 2005 has annually lectures at the Oboe Bassoon Festival (OFF) Kremsmuenster.
