In the mid-‘60s, he appeared on jazz records such as Wave by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Tequila by Wes Montgomery, and the self-explanatory Sarah Vaughan Sings the Mancini Songbook. Highlights from the late ‘60s include: Tony Sings the Great Hits of Today! by Tony Bennett, First Take by Roberta Flack, and Betwixt and Between by Kai Winding and J.J. Johnson.

In 1970, he helped Bob Dylan paint his Self Portrait, reunited with Antonio Carlos Jobim on Tide, and helped Edgar Winter make his Entrance. He also appeared on the follow-up, Edgar Winter’s White Trash. In 1972, he made his mark on a pair of Hank Crawford albums, Help Me Make it Through the Night and We Got a Good Thing Going. He was also busy with Grover Washington, Jr. on albums such as All the King’s Horses, Feels So Good, and Soul Box. In the mid-‘70s, he helped Bob James keep count on One, Two, Three, and Four.

Other albums followed, including Disco Baby by Van McCoy & the Soul City Orchestra, Good King Bad by George Benson, and the self-titled Faith, Hope & Charity. In 1976, he appeared on three Van McCoy albums, African Symphony, The Real McCoy, and Rhythms of the World. Highlights from the late ‘70s include Gilberto with Turrentine, The Mysterious Flying Orchestra, and Peaches & Herb.

The CD era is dotted with opportunities to hear Emanuel’s violin stylings on compilations and re-packagings such as The Essential Sarah Vaughan, House of David: The David “Fathead” Newman Anthology, and The Girl from Ipanema: The Antonio Carlos Jobim Songbook.
