He is a French horn player
who studied with Caesar LaMonaca of the Houston
Symphony, Roland Berger of the Vienna Philharmonic and Barry Tuckwell. He was awarded the position of
Principal Horn in the Calgary Philharmonic and later the Vancouver Symphony
Orchestra. He became a member
of the Canadian Brass in 1983 and stayed with them for three years until he
left to join the Empire Brass Quintet in 1986. In 1989 he became an Adjunct Professor
at the University of British Columbia and also returned to his previous
position in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He remained playing for them until
1999 when he was invited to play Principal Horn under Charles Dutoit at the
Montreal Symphony. He has five
solo CDs and can be heard on recordings by Summit Brass and Washington
Symphonic Brass. He is
currently on the faculty of the University
of Maryland, has published two
etude books for horn, and plays Principal Horn for the National Symphony Orchestra.
