He is a violinist and concertmaster born in Bellevue.
Ohio and raised in Missouri. His
father was violin professor at the Central Missouri State University and he
started to learn the violin at six years of age with his parents. He took further studies at the
Freiburg Hochschule fur Musik in Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship awarded
after being the youngest person to win the Music Teachers National
Association Competition. On
his return became an assistant concertmaster with the Houston Symphony
Orchestra in 1983. In 1991 he
became a member of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and he was awarded the
position of concertmaster there in 1995 where he worked with Leonard
Slatkin among others. As a
solo violinist his abilities have been employed by the San Francisco,
Houston, West German Radio and St. Louis Symphonies and as an Artistic
Director with the Innsbruck Institute. In an educational capacity he speaks at National
Endowment for the Arts' workshops, is a visiting artist to Yale University
and a Distinguished Artist of Mercer University's McDuffie Center for
Strings.
