He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974 and played in Pershing’s Own military band.  In 1976, he joined the National Symphony Orchestra.  Other groups with whom he has performed include the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Rochester Philharmonic, the Theater Chamber Players, and the 20th Century Consort.

In the field of musical education, he has taught at The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at the The Catholic University of America, the George Mason University School of Music, and the Virginia/DC Percussive Arts Society chapter’s Day of Percussion Timpani Clinic.  He also serves as chapter treasurer.

In 2005, he participated in the NSO’s North Carolina residency and appeared on the CD, The American Brass Band Journal.

He did the same in April 2010 in their West Virginia residency that included stops in Glenville, Morgantown, and Wheeling.

On 20th December 2010, he accompanied The Washington Chorus in “A Candlelight Christmas” concert at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

He was back on the road for the NSO’s Kentucky residency in February 2011.  Their program comprised Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60”, Michael Daugherty’s “Route 66”, Aaron Copland’s suite from Appalachian Spring, and highlights from Maurice Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe.
