Violinist from
Chattanooga, Tennessee, who attended Juilliard and Yale School of Music,
from whence she received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in
Violin Performance, respectively.
Her father was the conductor and violinist, Julius Hegyi. He
started up the “Music in the Round” series at Williams College
and Lisa cut her teeth on these concerts, debuting with the group in 1977
and performing as a regular by 1980.
In 1987, she
reached the semifinals at the Fritz Kreisler International Violin
Competition and appeared on the Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra of
Philadelphia’s Christmas album, Gloria! Gloria!. Other groups with whom she has
performed include The Albany Symphony Orchestra, The Berkshire Symphony, The
Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, The Cornell Contemporary Chamber Players, The
Ithaca Piano Trio, The Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, The Syracuse Symphony
Orchestra, and The Waterloo Orchestra.
In the field
of musical education, she gives private instruction at Hobart and William
Smith Colleges.
