     Henderson, Stephen

He is a percussionist born in England.  He became a staff percussionist with the BBC in 1972 and remained with them until 1979 when he had appeared on numerous television programmes including The Benny Hill Show.  At the same time, from 1972 to 1977, he was also Second Timpanist with several orchestras that included the London Symphony Orchestra.  He left the BBC staff orchestra in 1979 but still performs regularly on soundtracks, television programmes and commercials and has also been involved with many ensembles such as the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the Tavener Consort.  Highly acclaimed as a Baroque Timpanist he is a member of the London Consort amongst others and is recognised as being a major private collector of percussion instruments ranging from contemporary to historical.  Appearing over the years on numerous recordings he may be heard on Wind in the Bamboo Grove, The London Horn Sound,  Danza de Los Corceles by Luis Cobos, Carol Album: Seven Centuries of Christmas by the Tavener Consort, Her Greatst Hits by Evelyn Glennie, Alchemist by Philip Pickett, Pilgrimage to Santiago, Dansereye and Carmina Burana by Philip Pickett and the London Consort, Festive Brass and Eine Kleine Brass Music with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, Unveiled Hope by Michael Card, A Night at the Movies by David Essex and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and soundtracks including Blood Diamond, Ghost Ship, The Empire Strokes Back and She Hate Me.
