Cellist who graduated from the Music Academy of the
West in 1973 and proceeded to carve a niche for herself as an extremely
in-demand session musician. She
has recorded with Marc Anthony, Mary J. Blige, Michael Bolton, Stanley
Clarke, Natalie Cole, Harry Connick, Jr., Chick Corea, Counting Crows,
Billy Ray Cyrus, George Duke, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gloria Estefan, Nelly
Furtado, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, K-Ci & JoJo,
John Lithgow, Barry Manilow, Ray Parker, Jr. & Raydio, Lee Ritenour,
Kenny Rogers, Michael Sembello, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, and Keith
Urban. Her filmography is
extensive and much too long to list in a oner but includes Agent Cody Banks, Bridget Jones's Diary, Conspiracy Theory, Disturbia, Enough, Fantastic Four,
Gracie, Hairspray (2007), The
Interpreter, Jack, Kissing A Fool, The Last Samurai, Matrix
Revolutions, National Treasure,
Prelude to Eden, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins, Spider-Man 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Village, The World's
Fastest Indian, and XXX. Gamers may have heard her without
even knowing it: She played
cello on the soundtracks to the videogames Rapture and Spider-Man 2. On 18th September 1981
she appeared as part of a string ensemble for the South Bay Chamber Music
Society, Inc., performing Beethoven's "Quintet in C major, Op.
29" and Mendelssohn's "Octet in E-flat major, Op. 20". Paula is married to actor Geoffrey
Lewis, who is a favourite of director Clint Eastwood, and they are the parents
of actress Juliette Lewis.
