Jardine, Alan Charles "Al" (3rd September 1942-Present)

He was born in Lima, Ohio and met Brian Wilson at High School when his family moved to Hawthorne, California.  He played stand up bass on the first single released but then left the band temporarily to attend pre-dental college.  He was replaced by David Marks.  He returned in 1963 as a touring replacement for Brian Wilson and then returned full time a year later when Marks left.  He sang lead on several of their song as including "Help Me Rhonda" and "Then I Kissed Her".  Because his falsetto was alike to Brian Wilson and he often substituted him in the studio and in concert. He started co-writing and his hits include "Lady Lynda" and a re-write of "Cottonfields". He also suggested they record "Sloop John B".  He left the touring version of The Beach Boys in 1998 after Carl Wilson died, and now tours with his Endless Summer Band with several members of the ex-Beach Boys touring members, which include his son Matt.
