    Johnson, Dwight “Blackey

First tenor who replaced Jerry Cummings of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes and went on to perform with them for at least two decades.  Albums on which he appeared included The Sound of Philadelphia Live in London and Talk it Up (Tell Everybody).  Since Harold Melvin’s death, there have been several off-shoots of the Blue Notes, including Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes.  As of the late ‘90s, Dwight, along with William Spratelly, was still performing with the version endorsed by Harold’s widow, and they simply billed themselves as The Blue Notes.
