    Jones, Keith

Trumpeter from Phoenix, Arizona, who has been a member of the Kennedy Center Chamber Players, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the United States Marine Band.  He studied under Leon Rapier.

He joined the NSO in 1981.  In the early 1990s, he appeared on their album, Light’s Glittering Morn.

The Kennedy Center Chamber Players appeared at the Terrace Theater on 16th January 2005 in a program that included:  Paul Hindemith’s “Tuba Sonata”; Claudio Monteverdi’s “Four Madrigals”; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Quintet for Piano and Winds in E flat major, K. 452”; Francis Poulenc’s “Sonata for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone”; and, Johann Strauss’s “Wine, Women and Song, Op. 333”.

In February 2011, the National Symphony Orchestra honoured its Kentucky residency with stops in Florence, Lexington, Louisville, Owensboro, Paducah, and Somerset.  Their program comprised Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60”, Aaron Copland’s suite from Appalachian Spring, Michael Daugherty’s “Route 66”, and highlights from Maurice Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe.

Keith was one of the first trumpeters to test the Monette 2000LT C trumpet, the lightest of its kind manufactured by the instrument maker.
