Violist
who attended the Amsterdam
conservatory, the Hochschule fur Musik, the Prague Academy of Music, and
the Prague Conservatory, and studied under Wolfram Christ, Michael Gieler,
and Nobuko Imai.
Groups
with whom he has worked include: the Camerata Ensemble, the Czech Radio
Symphony Orchestra, the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, the Dutch Radio Symphony
Orchestra, the Instrumental Ensemble Muziekcentrum van de Omroep, Kammermusik
Sans Soucis, the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic, the Netherlands
Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Prague Chamber Orchestra.
In
1984, he appeared on Michal Tucny’s album, Jak Chcete Zit Bez Koni.
He
participated in The Bohuslav Martinu Festival on 17th December
1997 with a performance of Igor Stravinsky’s “Dumbarton Oaks”
at the St. Agnes Cloister in Prague,
The Czech Republic.
On 25th
November 2001, the Suk Chamber Orchestra entertained folks at the City
Sports Complex in Cebu, The Philippines, with Antonin Dvorak’s “Serenade
for Strings Op. 22”, Josef Suk’s “The Meditation on St.
Wenceslas Choral”, and highlights from Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
He
appeared on another Michal Tucny album, Pod
Kasperkem, in 2007.
On 16th
November 2008, he and the rest of the Instrumental Ensemble Muziekcentrum
van de Omroep helped premiere Mandolino,
a children’s opera by Ron Ford.
The Netherlands
Radio Chamber Philharmonic offered up Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symfonie
nr. 8 in F op. 93”, Claude Debussy’s “Children’s
Corner”, Dvorak’s “Romance voor viol en orkest op. 11”,
and Bohuslav Martinu’s “Dubbelconcert voor piano, slag-werk en
strijkers, H.271”, on 5th December 2008.
On 6th
February 2009, they put together a program that comprised Dvorak’s Polednice, Geza Frid’s “Ritmische
studies opus 58”, Gyorgy Ligeti’s “Vioolconcert”,
and Zoltan Kodaly’s Dansen van
Galanta.
The
Camerata Ensemble interpreted Johann Christian Friedrich Bach’s “Fluitkwartet
in F nr. 5”, Luigi Boccherini’s “Fluitkwartet opus 5 nr.
1”, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Fluitkwartet in D”
in January 2010.
On 14th
February 2010, a quartet consisting of Jakob Blok, Jochem Greene, Marlene
Hemmer, and Vilem, performed Mozart’s “Divertimento Es dur, KV
563” and “Pianoquartet in g-klein KV 478”.
The
Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic combined Baroque, Classical, and
Romantic music on 9th April 2010 in a concert of Joseph Haydn’s
“Berenice, che fai?” and “Symfonie nr.104 in D” (“Londense”),
Pieter Hellendaal’s “Concerto grosso op.3 nr.1 in g”, and
Felix Mendelssohn’s “Infelice”.
On 30th
May 2010, Vilem was one of half a dozen players who caressed Johannes
Brahms’ “String Sextet No. 2 in G major opus 36” at the
building of Broadcasting Music in Hilversum.
The
Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic combined Beethoven’s “Achste
symfonie in F, opus 93”, Debussy’s “Prelude a l’apres-midi
d’un faune”, Theo Loevendle’s “Vioolconcert”
(“Vanishing dances”), and Mozart’s “Fluitconcert in
G, KV 313” on 18th September 2010.
