He is a singer and guitarist born in Detroit,
Michigan. He started his first
band called The Trespassers in the mid-1960s and by the time he graduated from
high school in 1968 he was a founding and leading member of the group
Assemblage and saw local chart success with them on their song
“Satisfaction”.
He took his further studies in voice at Oakland
University and He ventured out on his own in the early 70s as the artist
Stretch Thomas and made an appearance in the recording studio with Bob
Seger. In 1976 he went back to
working with groups and became the lead of Air Condo, staying with them for
about 4 years.
In 1981 he went touring with Rick Springfield after
the successful release of the single “Jessie’s Girl” and
in 1982 he joined up with Three Dog Night. He spent much of the next year or
two in the recording studio with various artists of the time and then went
back out on the road with the sax player Ronnie Laws.
From 1985 he was back touring with Three Dog Night and
also accompanied the group America on their tour. Continuing to appear all over
the world, he toured with Tiffany twice between 1988 and 1991 and also
accompanied New Kids on the Block.
In 1991 he became a member of Vizitor, once again
keeping a very busy performance schedule, and for the next 5 years from
1992 he worked for Lorio-Ross Sterling Entertainment as an Entertainment
Coordinator. In 1996 he
returned to join Three Dog Night again on bass and vocals and he remains
with them to this day.
He has worked with countless other artists on stage
and in the studio over the years and a few of these include Carmine Appice,
Chuck Berry, Tim Bogert, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Tennessee
Symphony Orchestra and Eddie Van Halen.
He has appeared on many albums during the course of
his career that include Assemblage Album by Assemblage, Champion
by Jeff Berlin and Vox Humana, Race to Paradise by Jeff Paris, Beautiful
Loser and Rock Breakout Years: 1976 by Bob Seger, With the
London Symphony Orchestra and 35th Anniversary Collection
by Three Dog Night.
He currently resides in his home town of Detroit and
can be regularly seen performing with Three Dog Night on one of their many
concert tours.
