     Knowles, Liz

    She is a violinist born in Kentucky whose mother was a bagpipe player and grandmother also a violinist.  She specialises in Celtic fiddle playing and has worked with artists such as the Sirius String Quartet, the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the Ensemble Galilei, Steve Reich, Paula Cole and the Riverdance ensemble.  Married to the uilleann pipe player Kieran O;Hare, she has appeared on the soundtrack of Michael Collins and as a soloist she has released the album The Celtic Fiddle of Liz Knowles.
