    Kobau, Ernst (6th February 1950-Present)

    He is an oboist, music and social historian and author who studied in Vienna for his musical degree at the Academy of Music and his doctorate at the Institute of Economic and Social History.

     

    He became a member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in 1975 and appeared with them in numerous concerts throughout the world.

     

    With his knowledge as a musician with the VSO and a music and social historian he published the book“Wierner-SymphonikerEiner Sozialgeschichtliche Studie” (Vienna Symphony Orchestra – A Socio-historical Study).

     

    Although now retired, he has written liner notes and texts for CDs and events involving the VSO and has worked and researched as director of their historical archives.
