    Kublbock, Siegfried (1947-Present)

He is a clarinettist, saxophonist and arranger born in Rohrbach, Austria who undertook his studies at Vienna’s University of Music and Performing Arts.

From 1968 to 1970 he performed as a member of the Kurorchestern Bad Schallerbach and Bad Ischl.  He moved on to become First Clarinet at the Municipal Theatre of Baden in 1971 and after staying there for two years he accepted a position with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

In 1983 he founded the Vienna Symphony Jazz Project for six members of the orchestra to perform as a jazz sextet. Its popularity grew and has now expanded to eleven members.

Seven years later he was also a founder member of VindobonaSchrammeln ensemble in 1990.

Over the years he has worked with many other chamber and jazz ensembles, often as a solo saxophonist and arranger.  These include Counterpoint, Ensemble des XX. Jahrhunderts, the international Jeunesse Musicale, the Johann Strauss Ensemble, the Vienna Symphony Jazz Project and the Wiener Concert-Verein.

In the recording studio he has performed on several recordings of Schoenberg works with the Wiener Concert-Verein and Blues and the Abstract Truth and Pictures of an Exhibition by the Vienna Symphony Jazz Project.

He is now retired from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
