    Laurence, Patrick

    Double-bassist with the London Symphony Orchestra who appears on their recordings, Epiphany, John Adams:  A Flowering Tree, Music of Hope, and Britten:  War Requiem.

     

    On 8th May 2007, the LSO were joined by Angela Gheorghiu for an evening of opera highlights that included:  Ch’il bel sogno di Doretta” from La rondine by Giacomo Puccini, “Lascia ch’io pianga” from Rinaldo by George Frideric Handel, and “Stridano lassu” from Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo.

     

    The LSO performed the complete score of Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet on 21st and 23rd November 2008.

     

    On 12th June 2009, soprano Deborah Voigt was the guest soloist of the LSO for an operatic program that included “Dich, teure Halle” from Tannhauser and “Du bist der Lenz” from Die Walkure by Richard Wagner, and “Ich kann nicht sitzen” from Elektra and “Zweite Braut nacht” from Die Aegyptische Helena by Richard Strauss.

     

    The LSO teamed up with the London Symphony Chorus and soprano Sally Matthews for a performance of Gloria by Francis Poulenc on 16th June 2010.  The concert opened with Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 3”, with Vladimir Feltsman at the keys.

     

    On 9th and 11th October 2011, they joined forces with tenor Ian Bostridge, soprano Sabina Cvilak, the Eltham College Choir Trebles, baritone Simon Keenlyside and the London Symphony Chorus for a performance of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem.

     

    They gave the European premiere of Andre Previn’s “Concerto for Violin, Viola and Orchestra” with soloists Anne-Sophie Mutter and Yuri Bashmet on 19th February 2012.
