    Lawson, Philip

He is an English baritone who sang in the choir of the thousand year old church in Sussex, England as a child.  Before he left school he had attained the posts of choir master and organist.   He studied music at the University of York and sang countertenor in the choir of York Minster.  He moved to London and as a baritone he worked with choirs including the BBC Singers and St. Paul's Cathedral.  He joined the choir of Salisbury Cathedral in 1982, and was a schoolteacher and buyer and seller of used music in Salisbury for over 10 years before joining the King's Singers in replacement of Simon Carrington in 1993.
