He is a multi instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and
producer from the Springfield, Missouri, area.He was a founding member of the Ozark Mountain
Daredevils in 1971, writing many of their songs including the #1 chart hit "Jackie
Blue".He stayed with them until
around 1982 and later he would become a founding member of The Vinyl Kings.
Throughout the years he has
worked with many artists including Hoyt Axton, Jimmy Buffett, who he toured
and recorded three albums with, Rita Coolidge, Venetta Field, Nicky Hopkins
and David Sanborn.In 1982 he
released his own solo album, Marooned, and then after re-uniting
with Randle Chowning who was a co-member of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils,
after 25 years or so of having worked together, they released the album Beyond
Reach.He also features on
It'll Shine When It Shines and The Car Over the Lake by the
Ozark Mountain Daredevils, A Little Trip and Time Machine by
The Vinyl Kings, Son of a Son of a Sailor, Riddles in the Sand and Last
Mango in Paris by Jimmy Buffett, Love Me Again by Rita Coolidge,
Ready Eddie by Eddie Money and Fearless by Hoyt Axton.As a songwriter he has co-written
many songs including the #1 "Jackie Blue" for the Ozark Mountain Daredevils
and as a producer he has worked with artists and groups such as Alabama,
Juice Newton, The Remingtons and Restless Heart and seen at least thirteen
No. 1 chart hits.
