ABBA

In 1978 he went to work as a session musician and in 1979 joine up with Janne Schaffer’s Horselmat. Janne was a long-time guitarist with the group ABBA and in 1980 Per managed to get a chance to play drums on a session for their forthcoming single “Super Trouper”.

In 1981 he performed on “Soldiers” and “The Visitors” on ABBA’s album The Visitors and was the sole drummer used in 1982, aside from the track “The Day Before You Came”, for the final recordings made by the group before they disbanded.

Keeping his ties with ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus and Bjorn Andersson he drummed on their album of the musical Chess.

He has also been a member of the Electric Banana Band, Nils Landgren Funk Units and a long time drummer with the successful Norwegian group a-Ha, performing on many of their albums. He has also toured, accompanied and/or recorded with numerous other artists including Alphabeat, Michael Bolton, The Brecker Brothers, Ray Charles, Andrea Crouch, Jamie Cullum, Chaka Khan, Michael Landau, Kylie Minogue, Suzanne Vega and Stevie Wonder amog many others.

He has played drums on an astronomical amount of albums which are far to many to list but a few of them include Lifelines, Minor Earth/Major Sky and Velvet by a-ha, Opus 10 by ABBA, Free by Rick Astley, I Keep My Cool by Rebekka Bakken, For Fulla Segel by Annica Burman, Framling by Carola, Electric Banana Band- The Golden Years: 1981-1986 by Electric Banana Band, The Colour Album by Fra Lippo Lippi, Go Your Own Way by Gareth Gates, 99 by Anders Glenmark, Wild Seed by Morton Harket, Crazy People by Herrey’s, The Beauty and The Beat by Kate, Live in Stockholm by Nils Landgren Funk Unit, Fire by Lava, Shapes by Josefin Nilsson, Himlen Runt Hornet by Lisa Nilsson, Get Here by Brenda Russell, Bla Passager Och Roda Vagor by Janne Schaffer, Inside I’m Singing by Secret Garden, Nordisk Vinternatt and Sissel Kyrkjebo by Sissel, Kom In by Guds Solsken and Rainbow by Alan Vizzutti and the soundtrack for Mamma Mia! He was the winner of a Grammy Award in 1990.

He often works with his brother Sven who is a bass player than also tours with a-ha.
